On Saturday 24 May our incredible fundraising team took part in Run for the 97 5K to raise money for our Reading Folk project, a Book Club for mums of children under 2 that meets weekly in Liverpool and Knowsley to chat over a good book and enjoy some grown-up company.
For many new mums, Reading Folk has been vital for their mental health and wellbeing.
Nuala who took part said “Reading Folk has been an intrinsic part of my journey of early motherhood. The regular meet ups with the backdrop of a no pressure chat about a shared book reminded me that despite the raising of a tiny human (and now 3 in my case), you don’t have to feel guilty for taking time for yourself and having adult conversations about the book of choice, current affairs or skincare regimes. Most recently, Rachael’s enthusiasm for running inspired us all and sparked my previous love for the hobby I most enjoyed pre-parenthood. Combining this with my favourite of all time book clubs to help keep it going for future parents felt too important to not take part in. I can’t wait for the next fundraiser!”
If you would like to support our work, please donate to our GoFundMe page, and you can help us bring even more people together to read and connect.
Our next fundraising challenge is the Women’s 5k and 10k in Sefton Park - sign up to the race here and complete the form to be added to our team WhatsApp group.
